let us sing soul songs

bring dance and drum into the sanctuary

chant psalms of joy in convent corridors

carry smiles in monastery walls

hold vigil in silence

ring bells at vespers

observe litany of birdsong

walk labyrinth and medicine wheel

make liturgy of reading and writing

break out of confinement

know that though I never see

the color of your eyes or skin

nor know your name

my heart is happy

that we make merry together

in this unfenced pasture
