Gilead is a place, a mountainous region east of the Jordan River, in the Kingdom of Jordan. In the Bible, it is sometimes referred to as"the mount of Gilead" or "the land of Gilead". My reference here was prompted by the beautiful spiritual Balm in Gilead by Paul Robeson...a place, an oasis, of peace and healing.
